Internal Family Systems (IFS): A Path to Wholeness

At Bedrock Therapies, we embrace Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help you understand the different “parts” that make up your inner world. As Dr. Tori Olds explains in this video,
IFS sees each of us as having a family—or classroom—of parts led by our core Self. According to Phillip Lolonis, LCSW, founder of Bedrock Therapies, we’re meant to act as the “teacher” in our internal classroom. However, we can become “blended” or taken over by parts that aren’t ready for SELF leadership. The goal is to get these parts to work in harmony—like a well-functioning team guided by a coach (the Self) they all respect.
For individuals, based on Dr. Richard Schwartz’s work in No Bad Parts, we help clients connect with and integrate their internal parts to build greater self-awareness and resolve emotional blocks.
For couples and families, based on Dr. Richard Schwartz’s work in You Are the One You’ve Been Waiting For, we help partners and family members tap into their internal leadership to improve communication, strengthen relationships, and resolve emotional challenges together.

How IFS Helps

Rooted in evidence-based research, IFS goes beyond simply solving problems. By recognizing and healing protective or wounded parts, you cultivate the 8 Cs of Self leadership: confidence, calm, compassion, courage, creativity, clarity, curiosity, and connectedness. This non-pathologizing approach sparks meaningful, lasting change—not just within therapy but across your entire life.

Beyond Therapy

Professionals in fields like coaching, mediation, education, and spiritual leadership integrate IFS principles to deepen understanding and connection. At Bedrock Therapies, we tailor IFS to your unique needs, guiding you toward the inner harmony and resilience essential for navigating life’s challenges.
