We enjoy and get inspired by working with families. We would prefer to help guide families into connection using the art of compromise instead of being right. We teach boundary setting with empathy, assertiveness and respect instead of seeking control, and being overreactive based on the causes and conditions of one’s upbringing. Family therapy can be complicated, however, We have a simple approach that works when individuals in the family are motivated to change the way they think, behave, and communicate.
We meet with parents first, then everyone individually. Sometimes that means we meet with an individual 1:1 many times to work on communication, being triggered by their nervous system, and possible habits/addictions. Once we see that the family members have learned and are getting A’s and B’s in empathy, assertiveness, and respect, and have addressed any nervous system tiggers and habits/addictions, we then will put everyone together to create a new system, a new family style where the roles and the rules are based on what the family sees as their true value system that was there all along, but got lost as the family went into different directions.
Family therapy is necessary to address family issues and heal a family’s wounds. If any of the above scenarios resonate with your family, consider seeking family therapy. Family therapy can be beneficial on many different levels.
